Summer Cookie Collection

I've finally accomplished making cookies with 4 boys. I love summer with 4 boys 7 & under at home (I'll just keep telling myself that.) I got the itch to make cookies this week and decided to try out a few new designs before business gets busy.

For this Summer Collection I used three cookie cutters I already had, and I made a new one:

I like how these turned out, though as always they could use some tweaking. That is what the practice cookies are for. My boys don't mind eating the practice cookies (neither do I).

Stay tuned for another new collection coming soon.

Floral 40th Birthday Cake

The same friend who ordered the baby onesie cookies also ordered a cake for a surprise 40th birthday party she is throwing tonight. She gave me a napkin that they would be using at the party for inspiration & let me do my own thing. I loved the floral design on the napkin so I went with it! The script could use some work, but do you know how hard it is to write on a vertical surface?!

The cake's bottom layer is carrot cake with cream cheese filling. The top two tiers are chocolate with chocolate buttercream filling.

And look what my postman brought today!

Happy Birthday Karli!

Poppy Birthday Cake

Today is the birthday of a dear friend of mine! She was one of the first friends I made when we moved our family out here to Magna two years ago.
I promised her a cake last year and completely spaced it. I owed her a cake, and I wanted to make it a yummy one. I ended up making her a triple layer chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream icing and fondant poppies (recognize them from this cake?).

Her cute kids were super excited for the cake. I hope she was too! Happy Birthday Betsy, my dear friend!

Topsy Turvy Garden Birthday Cake

A good friend of mine asked me to do a birthday cake for her little girl, Eloise. Her instructions were simple - she wanted bright pink and lime green, with a girly theme. We agreed to do a topsy turvy cake and I went from there. I think it turned out cute. Happy Birthday Weezy!

The cake is devil's food cake with chocolate buttercream filling, covered in fondant.
And here is Miss Eloise with her cake.
You can read her mom's review here.

Lesson (re)learned: Wear gloves when you color fondant. My hands are now tainted a nice shade of bright pink, with a little purple thrown in for good measure.
