Our friend Scott, whose daughter I did these cupcakes for, asked me to make a guitar cake for his son's 17th birthday. I've never done a guitar cake before, so I happily said okay. I even took some pictures of the process this time.
Here is the cake, all cut out & waiting for icing. I made my own cake board for this one. I didn't, however measure my freezer before I made the board. I like to freeze my cakes between frosting layers, and it wouldn't fit in my freezer!
Here is the cake with the basic fondant done.
And the finished product. I rubbed the body of the guitar with a little vegetable oil to get it to shine like a real electric guitar.
And, here's the birthday boy with his cake. His Dad said he loved it. You wouldn't know it by the photo, LOL! Scott said that the little upturned corner of his mouth is about as much excitement as he ever shows, so I guess he is excited.
Happy Birthday Levi!
Very Cool!!
